January 2: A time and venue have been secured for the Winter meeting on February 2, held concomitant with the Annual Congress of the Society of Critical Care Medicine: 5 PM to 7 PM, Magnolia floor (top) in Cheekwood room GH, Gaylord Hotel Convention Center, 2800 Opryland Drive, Nashville, TN. 2008
November 18-19: The inaugural Fall meeting of the USCIIT Group (pronounced “Use-It Group”) was held at the NIH with over 200 attendees from 7 countries. Clinical Proposals from 18 groups were presented, and interest was expressed for creating several Working Groups for the benefit of our community, including ELSI and clinical epidemiology/outcomes, among others.
September 12: News of the USCIITG is presented at the Pediatric Disaster & Emergency Services National Summit (Los Angeles, CA)
August 27: The web submission engine for investigator-initiated hypothesis is now open. Most if not all of these hypotheses will be presented and discussed at the inaugural meeting of the Trials Group, November 18-19, 2008. For more information, see the Call for Clinical Proposals tab or the meeting web page. [NOTE, THE SUBMISSION SITE IS NOW CLOSED, BUT WILL REOPEN FOR NEW CLINICAL PROPOSALS DURING SUMMER 2009]

June 25: NIGMS issued a Request for Information (RFI), “Soliciting Input on Current Needs in Emergency Medicine Research” (NOT-NS-08-021). This information and the URL were forwarded to USCIITG Representatives. All are encouraged to respond to this important RFI [NOTE, THE RFI IS NOW CLOSED]
May 29: News of the USCIITG is presented at the annual meeting of the Trauma Committee, American Pediatric Surgery Association (Phoenix, AZ)
May 19: News of the USCIITG is presented at the Critical Care Assembly Business Meeting, annual International Congress of the American Thoracic Society (Toronto, Ontario)
